ZENNA MAE DeBOARD NELSON, age 77, of Fallston, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on December 28, 2004. Born in Grassy Creek, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Cicero Edmund and Melissa Watson DeBoard, and the wife of the late D. Breece Nelson. Graduated from high school in Grassy Creek, North Carolina and then moved to Harford County in the 1940’s where she lived with her sister. She married Breece Nelson in 1946. She worked at Smith’s Restaurant in Bel Air and at Edgewood Arsenal. She then became the secretary in Ordnance Center and School. She worked her way up to assist the Post Commander’s Secretary and later became the secretary for the Commanding General of TECOM until 1986 when she finally retired after 40 years of service. Afterwards she worked for General Powers and his wife Dodie in their business. She earned her real estate license and sold for Bob Ward Realty ERA from 1990-2002. She was a member of the Lioness Club, the Maryland Golf and Country Club and the Bel Air United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by two sons, D. Breece Nelson, Jr. of Fallston; Eric J. Nelson of Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania; one brother, Welch DeBoard of Galax, Virginia; two sisters, Agnes DeBoard Davis of Florida; Lenna DeBoard Blevins of Florida; four grandchildren, Jonathon Wesley Nelson of Salisbury; Zachary Warren Nelson of Catonsville; Calista Carpenter Nelson and Sarah Walker Nelson, both of Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by one daughter, Deborah Anne Nelson and one brother, Robert DeBoard.
