Zelma V. Dorsey

September 2, 1919 — September 27, 2014

Zelma V. Dorsey, age 95, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on September 27, 2014 at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD. Born in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Curry Sr. and Mary Letcher Williams Curry and wife, for 62 years, of the late James R. Dorsey Sr. She was proud to have attended Cortez Peters Business School and of her three children who completed college. She was also proud to help working parents by caring for infants in her home where she loved them as if they were her own. After 30 years of service, she retired from Edgewood Arsenal where she was an Assistant Librarian in the Technical Library. After retirement she volunteered with Friends in Self Help (FISH), as well as, Meals on Wheels in the Bel Air and Hickory areas. She was an active member of AMES A.M.E. United Methodist Church in Bel Air, and collected stamps and coins. She also enjoyed gardening and everyone enjoyed her cooking.

Mrs. Dorsey is survived by her sons, James Roswell Dorsey Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Owings Mills and Maurice W. Dorsey of Washington, DC; daughter, Margaret D. Pagan and her husband, Carl E., of Baltimore; sister, Agnes Thomas of Owings Mills; grandchildren, Darnell Mitchell, Stephen, Brian and Eric Dorsey, Duane Haley and Carla Pagan; and great-grandchildren, Anton, Brandon and Eric Dorsey, Elijah Pagan and Joseph and Emma Haley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, William H. Curry Jr.
