Peacefully in his sleep on September 26, 2009, Zane Fleming, age 80, of Bel Air, MD, expired after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. At his side was his dear beloved wife, Betty, who cared for and loved him for 32 years.
Zane served his country in the Navy and Army from 1945-1952. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service at APG and Edgewood Arsenal for 38 years, retiring in 1990. His passion was golf and he enjoyed playing with his friends at Ruggles for 50+ years. Fishing and playing golf with his brothers was also a joy.
In addition to his wife and true love, Betty J. Fleming, he is also survived by four children; Michael, Donna, and Jon of Aberdeen, and Judith Simon of Forest Hill; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are seven brothers and sisters in Virginia and Arizona; two step-children; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
