Wynald (Dean) Smith, Sr.

WYNALD “DEAN” SMITH, SR., age 69, of Edgewood, died at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on December 19, 2005. Born in Piney Creek, North Carolina, he was the son of Dornie McMillan Smith of Piney Creek, N. C. and the late Odell Smith. He worked for Bata Shoe Co. from 1954-1984. He also worked for Monarch Manufacturing from 1984 until January 2005. He served his country as a U. S. Marine Corp Rifleman from 1956-1958. He attended Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Perryman.

Mr. Smith is survived by four sons; Wynald Dean Smith, Jr., John Wayne Smith both of Edgewood, Joseph Martin Smith of Oceanside, CA, James Brian Smith of Florence, AL.; one daughter, Pamela Karen Scott of Templeton, CA; two brothers, Carlis Smith, Billy Smith, both of Piney Creek, NC; one sister, Anna Lee Atwood of Winston Salem, NC; and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at the Methodist Church in Piney Creek, NC at a later date.
