Winona Evelyn Gardner

WINONA "NONIE" EVELYN GARDNER, age 93, of Bel Air, MD, died on May 28, 2008 at Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Morgantown, WV, she was the daughter of the late Robert Hermann and Lillian Evelyn Schultz Grumbach and wife of the late Wilbur Lewis Gardner. Formerly of Fairfax County, Virginia and Baltimore, Maryland, she was a very loving, tender hearted person. She went to live with her daughter, Virginia, in her later years before becoming a resident of Forest Hill Health and Rehabilitation. She loved to bake and loved being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always had a smile and made friends everywhere. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school at Fairlington Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, VA.

Mrs. Gardner is survived by a son, Wilbur Lewis Gardner, Jr. of Dataw Island, SC; two daughters, Norma Gardner Booker of Anderson, SC and Virginia Ruth Frantz of Bel Air, MD; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Herman and John Grumbach, one sister, Norma Hammel, and one grandson, Doug Gardner.
