Winnie Grace Sturgill

WINNIE GRACE STURGILL, age 88, of Rising Sun, MD, formerly of Darlington, MD, died on June 3, 2006 at Union Hospital in Elkton, MD.

Born in Piney Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Mastin and Caroline MacMeans Burchette, and the wife of the late Glen Sturgill.

She was a homemaker who lived in Darlington, MD most of her life. She attended Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Darlington, MD. Her family said that she loved being a homemaker and working in her garden. They said that she looked forward to Sundays when the family would come together for a meal and fellowship. They said that she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who was loved by her family.

Mrs. Sturgill is survived by six sons, Dennis Sturgill of Nottingham, PA, Archie D. Sturgill of Peach Bottom, PA, R.C. Sturgill of Longneck, DE, Jerry Sturgill of Nottingham, PA, Larry Sturgill of Atglen, PA, and Allen Sturgill, Sr., of Darlington, MD; four daughters, Shirley Eldreth of Kennett Square, PA, Brenda Osborne of West Grove, PA, Joyce Reeves of Honey Brook, PA and Linda Ely of Aberdeen, MD; one brother, Howard Burchette of Darlington, MD; one sister, Arlin Jones of Piney Creek, NC; 28 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Michael Sturgill.

Friends may call at the McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Bel Air on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 from 10-11 AM. Services will be held at the McComas Funeral Home, P.A. in Bel Air on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at 11 AM with Rev. Ronald D. Estep officiating. Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Claude “Buckey” Sturgill, Danny Eldreth, Timmy Sturgill, John Sturgill, Steve Osborne, Jerry Joe Sturgill, Travis Sturgill, Allen Sturgill, Jr., Jenn Reeves and Jessica Ely.
