Winfield Baker Harward Jr., 94 of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on September 11, 2017 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of LTC Winfield Baker Harward Sr. and Gertrude (Vandergrift) Harward.
During World War II, he served with the Marine Corps. He graduated from the University of Maryland in Business Administration in 1949. After graduation, he worked for the State of Maryland, Department of General Services for 40 years as chief Casualty Claims Engineer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lois (Leftridge) Harward, son Stephen Harward (Carla); daughter, Barbara Harward-Troska (Frank); sister Barbara Harward Baker; and step-grandchildren Jackie Snyder and Andrew Troska.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Winifred Harward Howell.
Baker was very enthusiastic and supportive of youth sports in Bel Air. He was co-founder of Bel Air Little Red Football Program, now known as Bel Air Terps.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion #39, 500 N. Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, Maryland 21014.
