William F. Sterbinsky Sr., age 90, of Joppa, MD passed away on January 27, 2024, at Jacobs Well Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. Born in Emmitsburg, MD, he was the son of William Stephen and Alice (Dukehart) Sterbinsky and husband of the late Dolores (Barrett) Sterbinsky. William grew up in Emmitsburg, MD where he was a volunteer firefighter with the Emmitsburg Vigilant Hose Company. He played baseball and earned his BS in Accounting from Mount St Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD and his MS in Information Technology from the George Washington University. William worked for Ernst & Ernst (now EY), Western Electric and 26-years with the Social Security Administration. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Colts, Ravens, Orioles and Terps, and was also an avid player of tennis, squash and bowling. William coached tennis at John Carroll High School and was a longtime member of Valley Brook Country Club, where he enjoyed swimming and tennis. He also coached his kid’s baseball, softball, and basketball. He later enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with his wife, Dolores, and friends, often ending with tasty deserts. William and his wife had a property in Chincoteague, VA where they enjoyed spending summers vacationing for many years. He was a member of St Stephen Catholic Church for 60-years. He was friendly, talked to everyone and made many friends. Most of all, William loved his family and enjoyed bragging about his four children and eight grandchildren.
William is survived by his sons, William F. (Stephanie) Sterbinsky, Jr., and Gary Stephen (Kimberly) Sterbinsky; daughters, Sherry Ann Hudson and Kristen Lynn (Joseph F.) King; grandchildren, Kyle Sterbinsky, Hannah Sterbinsky, Colin Hudson, Marcus Hudson, Jaelynne King, Layla King, William F. Sterbinsky III, and Finley Sterbinsky; and his sister, Ann Marie Boyer.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Stephen Catholic Church, 8030 Bradshaw Rd, Kingsville, MD 21087.
