William R. Shunk

August 3, 1942 — June 19, 2013

William Roger Shunk, age 70 of Edgewood, MD, passed away on June 19, 2013 at his home. Born in Perryville, MD on August 3, 1942, he lived in Harford County all of his life. He was the son of the late Carl Sr. and Marcella Shunk of Joppa, MD. He retired, after 14 years, from Wards Machinery in Cockeysville and had also been a Harford County School bus driver. He was a wonderful and loving husband of Polly Virginia Shunk for 48 years. He was a very faithful and active member of the Edgewood Assembly of God Church which he had attended since 1965. There he was a Special Singer and Choir Member, Sunday School and Royal Ranger Teacher and Commander and Church Bus Driver. He was also active with the Men's Ministry and served on the Board of Deacons. He enjoyed woodcarving very much and looked forward to cookouts with extended family members throughout the years. Family was very important to him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons; Hayes Shunk and wife, Krissy, of Joppa, Tony Shunk and wife, Paige, of Edgewood; daughter, Diana L. Jennings and husband, Randy, of Bel Air; six grandchildren who Poppy loved very much, Andrew, Heather and Mike Shunk of Joppa, Lyric and Jake Shunk of Edgewood and Matthew Wicker of Bel Air. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandson. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard Shunk of Joppa and James Shunk of Aberdeen; one sister, Lois Hawks of Bel Air and a large family of in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be W. Hayes Shunk, J. Tony Shunk, Randy Jennings, Mac Carter, Buck Harris and Willie Maxfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Buster Harris, Lanny Harris, Rev. Tracy Stanley, Roger Kregar and Ed Carter.
