William O. Ewing Jr., 91, of Crozet, VA, passed away on March 1, 2015 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. Born in Fallston, MD, he was the son of the late William Oliver Ewing Sr. and Julia Madeline Gray Ewing and husband of the late Katherine Elizabeth Scott Ewing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground for over 35 years where he was a Physical Science Engineer. He loved his job and was excited to see the results of his previous day's tests. He even invented a camera to photograph high speed projectiles. Bill's hobbies were endless. As a small child, his daughter once said "My daddy can do anything". And he could. He was an avid furniture maker and woodworker, could fix anything electronic or automotive, and built his own home and one for his mother. He once trained a chipmunk to take a peanut from his pocket, made beautiful jewelry and cast baby crabs into sterling. He loved bowling, fishing for sea trout in the Delaware Bay, and going to the North East auction every week. He could even find four leaf clovers while standing.
Mr. Ewing is survived by his daughter, Sharon Ewing Predmore and husband, Richard, of Crozet, VA; brothers, Richard O. Ewing of Colora and William H. Ewing of Rising Sun; grandchildren, Samantha Predmore of Richmond, VA and Zachary Predmore and wife, Anna, of Lexington, KY; and great-grandchildren, Megan and Desmond Predmore. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Donald Ewing and Robert Landers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
