Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William John and Mildred Ruth (Bryant) Hershfeld. He had a 35-year career working for the Department of Defense (DOD), Chemical Research Development & Engineering Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was also a business entrepreneur operating several successful businesses throughout his lifetime.
Family was the balance to Lynn’s core. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. The love for his family was unending and his passion for life was vibrant. Lynn had a presence that exuded confidence, love, caring, support, and charm. He spent his life making other lives better while living his life to the fullest. Lynn gave of his time to the community coaching little league baseball and football for the Edgewood Recreation Council. He was an avid scuba diver recreationally and did recovery missions for the DOD, he loved to cruise on his Harley Davidson, tinker in his garage, he was a self-taught mechanic and carpenter, and a remarkable woodworker. He found his best joy exploring and being adventurous with his wife by his side and being surrounded by family and friends.
After retirement, Lynn and his wife, Beth, set sail on their Gulfstar 50-foot sloop rig sailboat “Coyote” to the Keys of the Bahamas where they enjoyed their winters in the Abaco Islands, specifically, Elbow Cay, calling Hopetown their second home, making new memories and lifetime friends. After sailing, Lynn and Beth settled down in Aberdeen, MD in an 1800 colonial home where Lynn put his passion to work as a wood worker and carpenter around the house, building his wood working garage, and spending beautiful days on his front screened in porch with his wife appreciating life as he knew it.
