William Ludwig Morkovsky, age 80, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on July 9, 2019 at his home. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Emil Joseph and Agnes Mare (May) Morkovsky and loving husband of Judith G Morkovsky for 56 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 devoted children, Johnny, Robin and her husband Jeff Soth, Kim Morkovsky, Kelly and her husband Jim Dodaro, Judi and her husband Kevin Shetterly; 16 grandchildren, Annie, Chelsea, Mary, Krissy, Stephanie, Willie, Philip, Cecilia, Perry, Kelsey, Ariel, Samatha, Ryan, Julie, Chad and Rachel; 11 great grandchildren, Bethany, Daniel, Emma, Alex, Anthony, Jasmine, Tyler, Alexis, Sabastian, Cameron and Evelyn; and sisters Mimi, Florine and Alice.
He was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Elmer.
Growing up, “Willie” was a real true outdoorsman always exploring, fishing, hunting, and trapping in/around the Bush River watershed area near Harford County’s Belcamp/Riverside community.
Proudly serving from 1957 to 1960, he was a veteran of the United States Navy which took him around the world aboard different aircraft carriers including the USS Wasp and USS Independence (plank owner). He made lifelong friends including Ken Clark from Florida.
His training and love for friends and home brought him right back to Maryland. His working career spanned many decades and included jobs in a machine shop in Baltimore, the Bata Shoe Company and ended in retirement from Western Electric/AT&T after almost 30 years.
Willie’s love for the land never faded. While raising his young family, he seized an opportunity to acquire what became his lifelong passion and legacy - his own farm. Over the years, lifelong and countless memories were made building his home, raising cattle and pigs, growing crops, mowing hay, building and fixing just about anything.
He enjoyed a long and happy retirement on his farm where he shined as a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved and gave unconditionally.
While flowers are welcome, memorial contributions or remembrances may be made to The Anah Shriners | Bangor, ME or any local charity and/or religious organization.
