William J. Langan, “Bill” of Bel Air, Maryland passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 29, 2023, just after reaching his 94th birthday, at Lorien Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Edward Lawrence Langan Sr. and Matilda Catherine (Ryan) Langan and husband of Margaret "Margie" (Ford) Langan. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he graduated from Villanova University in 1957 and was Superintendent and Manager of Conowingo Hydroelectric Plant and Muddy Run Pump Storage Station. He was a member of the Pumped Storage Generating Stations National Committee and the Pennsylvania Structures and Hydraulic Committee. Bill was a member of the Darlington Lions Club from 1962 to 1976, where he held all offices, including President; was a Committee Board member of Citizens Nursing Home in Havre de Grace, MD from 1988 to 1994; a Lector at St. Patrick Catholic Church and an Usher at St. Margaret Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer, bridge player and bowler and enjoyed traveling. He traveled to over 50 countries.
In addition to his loving wife of 27 years, Bill is survived by his sons, William Langan, Jr. (Deborah), Robert Langan and Daniel Langan; daughters, Catherine Mateer (James), Ellen Kobler (Jeffery) and Barbara Blake (Kevin); stepdaughter, Karen Kurrle (Brian); stepson, Keith Schepleng; grandchildren, William Langan III, Laura Kurrle, Maggie Schepleng and Samuel Schepleng.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Eleanor C. Langan and brother, Edward "Bud" Lawrence Langan, Jr., who he adored.
