WILLIAM JOSEPH MURPHY, age 76, of Oak Crest Village, Pikesville, formerly of Bel Air, died at Franklin Square Hospital, Rossville, on November 9, 2002. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Florence I. Dillion Murphy, and the husband of the late Marguerite Campbell Murphy. He worked as an audit advisor, living in Sidney, Australia, when he retired in 1986 from Esso Australia Ltd. He spent his entire career with the Exxon Company. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II.
Mr. Murphy is survived by two sons, William J. Murphy of Houston, Texas; Robert Murphy and his wife, Laura of Bel Air; one sister, Florence I. Sihksnel of Long Island, New York; six grandchildren, Meighan Murphy of Abingdon; Joseph Murphy of Abingdon; Katie Murphy of Abingdon; Amanda Murphy of Houston, Texas; Katherine Manfuso of Bel Air; and Stephen Manfuso of Bel Air. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Murphy.
