William J. Fischer Sr. age 89, of Stevensville, MD died on Friday December 30, 2022, at his home under the care and comfort of his loving wife Florence Marie Fischer. He was born in Baltimore, MD, the son of Mary A. (Long) Fischer and Michael J. Fischer. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict and earned a Parachutist Badge. He worked as an insurance agent and even though the company changed names several times, he worked for the same company for 40 years. In his spare time he sold calendars, worked as a Bingo caller and at the racetrack. He loved meeting new people and talked to everyone. William loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed Bingo, going to the casino, watching his favorite sport teams the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. He also liked to travel to Florida, Connecticut, Delaware, and Deep Creek to visit with family and friends.
Mr. Fischer is survived by a daughter Patricia L. (Fischer) Pirog and her late husband Francis J. Pirog Jr. of Bel Air, MD and son Thomas J. Fischer of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and daughters in law Julie Fischer and Mari Fischer. Four stepchildren, Dawn Hoffmaster and husband Sean, Deneen Schock and husband Ron, Florence Baumgardner and husband Alan, David Rutter, and wife Sara along with all his beloved grandchildren, Francis J. Pirog III (deceased) and wife Amber, Julianne N. (Pirog) Webster and husband Matt, Katelynne L. Pirog and fiancé Josh, Kristen R. (Fischer) Vanmeter and husband Will, Sophia Fischer, Cayden J. Fischer and Makenna J. Fischer. Bonus grandchildren Nathan and wife Karen, Elise and husband Jason, Bryce, James, Elizabeth, Olivia and fiancé Brandon, Alan, Adam, Matthew, Michael, Stefanie Kaye and husband Zakk, and Devon and fiancé Anders. Along with thirteen great grandchildren; his special sisters-in-law Eleanore Esposito, and Roberta Kolbe and husband Steve.
In addition to his mother, he is predeceased by his sons William J. Fischer Jr. of Delta, PA, Robert J. Fischer of Bel Air, MD and David J. Fischer of Newark, DE. Also, his beloved Aunt Margaret L. Smith.
