WILLIAM HENRY WATTERS, of Fountain Green, died on October 31, 2007 at age 103. Born April 17, 1904, in St. Mary’s County, MD, he was the son of the late Samuel and Nellie Watters. A resident of Harford County since he was 8 years old, Henry worked for various farms in Harford County during his lifetime. Fifty-five years he spent working for Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Seward on Stepney Farm, which is now Beechtree Golf Course. Since the death of Mr. Seward in 1995, he lived with Carol J. Burdette in Fountain Green. The County Executive and County Council of Harford County, MD, proclaimed him a Harford Living Treasure on February 13, 2007. At the age of 102 he qualified to be a member of the Harford County Century Club, was inducted and his name engraved on a plaque displayed in the Harford County Council Chamber.
Mr. Watters is survived by one brother, Aaron A. Watters of Havre de Grace, MD; four sisters, Katherine Williams of Baltimore, MD, Rachel Burrell of Woodbury, NJ, Agnes Jones of Ocean City, MD, and Mary Sumeville of LaPlata, MD; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Martha C. Watters Holly, Mabel Watters and Barbara White; and two brothers, Jesse Watters and James Edward Watters.
