William Henry Bytheway, Jr., age 72, a resident of Abingdon, MD passed away on May 29, 2017, at home in the company of his family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late William Henry Bytheway, Sr. and Lillian Carolyn (Sachs) Renfro and the husband of the late Patricia Ann Bytheway. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Renfro. Bill is survived by his daughter Michelle Bytheway Bandy, her husband Mark Todd Bandy, his grandchildren William Scott Bytheway Bandy and Jeremy Thomas Ecklin Bandy, and sisters Sandra Bredariol and Carol Lyons.
Prior to graduating, Bill left Kenwood High School to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He later earned his G.E.D. and began working for the Sparrows Point Shipyard. Bill finished his career driving an 18-wheeler for Super Fresh Food Markets where he worked long hours to provide income to put his daughter through college.
Bill, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, loved and trusted in the Lord. He fervently prayed for his family, friends and others in need. He was proud to be an American and maintained his membership in the Teamsters Union. He served as a sponsor and chairperson in the AA program where he last celebrated 36 years of sobriety in September of 2016. He loved to watch the O's and the Ravens play in the comfort of his home. His hobbies included riding his Harley, playing Texas Hold-em and country line dancing.
Bill had a warm disposition that put others at ease and made them want to be in his company. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially fishing with his grandsons. He loved all animals and spent much of his last month with his two puppies, Cody and Shadow, in his lap. Bill will always be remembered for his advice, his sayings, and his mannerisms. He touched the hearts of many and will be missed here on earth.
