William Edward Goforth

William Edward Goforth, age 85, of Edgewood, Maryland, passed away on September 19, 2024, at Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Caviness, Texas, he was the son of the late Eddie and Mavis (Murray) Goforth and the beloved husband of Marcia (Kozan) Goforth for 56 years.

William was a decorated Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer in his long military career attaining the rank of Major. He was then a Honorably Retired US Veteran and began his second career as an Army Civilian. He dedicated 23 years working in civil service at the Executive Chemical Weapons Depot at Edgewood Arsenal as a Tech Escort, where he played a vital role in the transport and disposal of chemical weapons. He retired with honor and was a member of the American Legion Post 17 in Edgewood, the Disabled American Veterans, and the NRA.

William's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was also passionate about politics and enjoyed playing golf in his free time. He was a star Paris High School and Paris College football player in his hometown of Paris Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughters Sheri L. Dawson and Karol Kaye Goforth; sister, Wanda Lou Cain; grandchildren Amber Vinci, Ashley Mann, and Savannah Marie Hoffstein; and great-grandchildren Gavin Williams and Ayden Vinci and beloved cousin Peggy Boyer.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Marie Goforth, and brother, Jerry D. Ashford.
