William Gaver Nicodemus Jr., 86, of Jarrettsville, MD passed away Monday, June 15, 2021 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Bill was born February 7, 1935 in Baltimore City to the late William Gaver Nicodemus Sr. and the late Margaret Nicodemus. Bill served his country in the Army National Guard. He graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Business Industry and Management and worked for the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Association where from 1977-1978, he was recognized as Outstanding Member of the Year. Bill then moved to Harford County and retired in 2001 after 25 years of service with Harford County Parks and Recreation. He had a lifelong dedication to volunteering and community service through coaching basketball for 20 years, coaching softball, and was Harford County Library President for 10 years. In 2016 Bill was named to the Maryland Senior Citizen Hall of Fame in recognition of his volunteer service.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Ellen Nicodemus; son, Todd Edward Nicodemus and wife Roxanne of Selbyville, DE; daughter, Bonnie Nicodemus Suther and husband John “Chip” McDonald Suther of Mooresville NC; grandchildren, Will and Isabel Nicodemus, John and Andrew Suther; sister, Jean Huss and brother-in-law Ed Huss; and sisters-in-law, Margaret Thomas, Virginia Barber and Diane Nicodemus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother John Nicodemus, nephew Glen Nicodemus, and brother-in-law Joseph Thomas.
