William Daniel Garrett, 74, of Darlington, Maryland, passed away on February 18, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Ralph and Dolores (Pavlik) Garrett and the beloved husband of Susan E. Garrett.
William and Susan’s love story was one of fate and reconnection. They first met as classmates at Dundalk High School but ran in different circles—Susan, the studious achiever, and William, the fun-loving, tough “bad boy.” Years later, at their 20th high school reunion, their paths crossed again at a cookout in Merritt Park. As he grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, they reconnected, and soon after, a lifelong love story began. They married in 1991 and built a life full of laughter, music, and adventure.
A true handyman, William had a gift for fixing just about anything. His career as a skilled mechanical technician led him to work on everything from lottery machines to hospital X-ray equipment. He was known for his quick wit, lively conversations, and unwavering toughness.
Music was a lifelong passion, with classic rock and ‘70s hits always playing in the background of his life. A true “Woodstock boy,” he continued to enjoy live concerts and, later, found appreciation for jazz and new-age music alongside Susan. He also had a deep love for motorcycles, riding from a young age, and an undeniable connection with animals—earning him the title of an “animal whisperer.” Even the most guarded pets seemed to soften in his presence.
William loved action movies, had a deep appreciation for steamed Maryland crabs and crab cakes, and cherished every moment spent with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Garrett; his daughter, Kellie (Chris) Jackson; his cherished grandchildren, Brady and Jayde; and his brother, Ralph C. Garrett III. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Lee Srebroski, and his brother, Richard Robert Garrett.
