William G. Smith

William G. Smith, age 50, of Edgewood, Maryland passed away on December 10, 2019. Born in Tubmanburg, Liberia, he was the son of William Smith and his wife, Evangeline, of Monrovia, Liberia and Arda Thompson Collins and her husband, Thomas, of Edgewood. William served his country and received an honorable discharge after completion of required active service in the United States Marine Corps. He was awarded the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. William loved music, playing chess, was an avid movie watcher, and the author of a published novel and numerous poems.

In addition to his parents, William is survived by his sisters Sheryl A. Collins of Rochester, MN, Reina F. Smith and husband, Anthony Allen, of Montclair, NJ, Danielle T. Smith of Syracuse, NY, Marlene W. Smith of Olney, MD and Gyivan S. Collins-Jackson of Fayetteville, NC; his brothers Thomas G. Collins and wife Paula, of Chichester, PA, Hilary R. Cooper of Las Vegas, NV, Preston Jackson of Fayetteville, NC, Sherif G. Collins and wife, Felicia of Philadelphia, PA, Augustyniack G. Collins of Edgewood, MD, and Brandon P. Smith and wife, Shelby of Olney, MD; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
