WILLIAM “BILL” F. ROSE, age 87, of Havre de Grace, died at his home on November 6, 2003. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William C. and Ann Elizabeth Tierney Rose. He had worked as an automotive parts salesman. Upon retirement, he became involved in volunteer activities as a volunteer driver for the Cancer Society, when serving as Chairman of the Harford Food and Nutrition Committee, he was instrumental in starting “Summer Meals for Kids” program. He also volunteered for the “Meals on Wheels” and “Grace Place” in Havre de Grace. He actively supported fair housing, interracial issues, Bel Air Methodist Church, and the food bank. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Rose is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Ella Leitch Rose; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Hopper of Havre de Grace; Dorothy Linda Ford of Sudlersville, Maryland; one brother, Melvin J. Rose of Linthicum, Maryland; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Harford County Library Foundation, 1221 A Brass Mill Road, Belcamp, Maryland 21017 for large print books.
