William "Bill" Felder Mullis of Damascus, MD, was born on September 17, 1919 in Eastman, Georgia, son of William Henry Mullis and Odie Estelle Parkerson Mullis, is survived by Wife- Anne Elizabeth Mullis; Daughter -Sharon Wehling and her children Kevin Pellow, Kim Spence, Kirk Pellow, and Kit Pellow; Daughter- Diana Sanderson and her children Devon and Laine Sanderson; Son- Lyndon Mullis and his children Amy Havel and Kelsey Mullis; Daughter- Carol "Candy" Carr-Smith and her children Crystal Carr, Chris Carr, Cherice Hogan, Julianna Smith, Joseph Smith; and Son- David Nails; sister, Mildred L. Stuckey; brothers, Parker Nue Mullis, Gilbert R. Mullis, Joel D. Mullis, Bryce Mullis, and Doyce E. Mullis. Predeceased by siblings, Fulton Mullis, F.T. Mullis, Donald Mullis, and James H. Mullis.
Bill was a highly, decorated United States Marine Corps serviceman during World War II. He retired from the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), formally the National Bureau of Standards, as an Electrical Engineer. He lived out his agricultural roots in Damascus, Maryland, where he and Anne lived for 40 years on a small farm. Bill was an avid enthusiast of world travel, hunting, farming, camping, fishing, and the Republican Party.
