William F. Capallo

William F. Capallo, age 88, of Bel Air, MD passed away on March 2, 2016. He was born in Wyomissing, PA where he met his wife and lived until joining the U.S. Navy in 1945. After receiving his masters degree, he worked as principal of The Ridge School in Baltimore County before becoming Director of Pupil Services for the Harford County Board of Education. An avid sports fan, he was the first basketball coach at Harford Community College and was recently inducted into the HCC Hall of Fame. He was one of the original organizers and chairmen of the Bel Air Recreation Committee in the 1960's. A competitive swimmer and basketball player in his youth, he turned to tennis, golf, refereeing and coaching as an adult who eventually retired to gardening.

Mr. Capallo is survived by Gloria, his wife of 63 years; sons, Robert J. Capallo and wife, Valerie, of Bel Air, Thomas E. Capallo and wife, Deborah, of Bel Air and Frederick M. Capallo of Laguna Niguel, CA; grandchildren, Susan M. Barratt, Andrew J. Capallo and Joseph T. Capallo; and great-grandchildren, Owen and Ava Barratt.
