William F. Barton, age 90, of Kingsville, MD, died on October 21, 2009 at his home. Born in Franklinville, MD, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Ethel Schutz Barton and husband of the late Mary Elizabeth Morgan Barton. A lifelong resident of Franklinville, he served our country in the Coast Guard. He worked at Glen L. Martin, and later, Martin Marietta where he retired after over 30 years of service. Affectionately known as the Mayor of Franklinville, he was a large contributor of information to the Jerusalem Mill Project and was a member of the Friends of Jerusalem Mill. A life member of Salem United Methodist Church, he donated to many charities and was always ready to help others. He was a master of puzzles, enjoyed working in his garden, and was very good with his hands at woodworking.
Mr. Barton is survived by his son, Thomas Barton and wife, June, of Kingsville, MD; daughter, Marcia Barton and husband, Wayne Hovey, of Santa Rosa, CA; three grandchildren, Kelly, Kristine, and Kevin Barton; and dear friend, Frances Bell.
