William Dennis McDermott

William (Billy) Dennis McDermott, age 63, of Joppa, passed away on December 24, 2023, at home. Born in New York, he was the son of the late William G. and Joan (Cooney) McDermott.

Billy served his country honorably in both the Army and Army National Guard. Throughout his professional life, he worked for Grainger for 40 years, where he excelled as a manager and sales representative. Billy was an excellent provider for his family and his girls were his greatest joy in life. Outside of work, Billy’s favorite pastimes were fishing and crabbing with his friends Robbie and John. He was also an avid NASCAR fan with Dale Sr. being his all-time favorite driver. 

He is survived by his cherished daughters, Kathryn (Katie) and Rachel and their mom Kim McDermott, furry kids Jerry, Ginger, and Gus, sisters – Gail (Mike) O'Keefe, Karen McDermott, Joann (Pete) Nolan, Mary (Randy) Rice, and Carol McDermott Blesh. He is also survived by eight nieces, one nephew, five great nephews and three great nieces.
