William Cody Hightower, age 94, of Bel Air, MD, died on May 18, 2011 at Hart Heritage in Forest Hill, MD. Born in Elkton, KY, he was the son of the late Edward and Mable Harris Hightower and husband, for 71 years, of the late Ruby C. Hightower. He was a resident for 20 years of Harford County, and during that time, a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was employed with the American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) where he was the Pacific Representative of Hawaii and Guam. He retired in 1981, after 25 years of service, and then moved to Hendersonville, TN where he lived for 10 years. He enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife, and visiting with family.
Mr. Hightower is survived by his daughter, Patsy Scholz and her husband, Reinhardt, of Baldwin, MD; grandchildren, Cathy Amberman and husband, Theodore, of Shrewsbury, PA, Michael Scholz and wife, Elizabeth, of Norrisville, MD, and Cherie Baquero and husband, Anthony, of Abingdon, MD; great-grandchildren, Timothy, Nicholas, and Jessica Amberman of Shrewsbury, PA, Christy, Samantha, Joshua, and Alyson Scholz of Norrisville, MD, and Brooke Baquero of Abingdon, MD; and daughter-in-law, Marilynn Hightower of Middle River, MD. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Phillip I. Hightower and his sisters, Gracie Parish and Evelyn Guffie.
