William Clifford Adkins Jr.

November 1, 1917 — October 26, 2011

William Clifford Adkins Jr., age 93, of Hampstead, MD, passed away on October 26, 2011 at Longview Nursing Home in Manchester, MD. Born in Salisbury, MD, he was the son of the late William Clifford Adkins Sr. and Martha Roxie Carver Adkins, and husband, for 56 years, of the late Elizabeth Wirts Adkins. An avid woodworker, he was a resident of Harford County since 1950 where he and his wife built their own house on Tollgate Road in Bel Air. An aircraft mechanic by trade, he worked for the Martin Marietta Corporation at the Glen L. Martin Airport in their ground test division for more than 35 years. He was especially proud of his contribution during WWII.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his daughter, Leah B. Ewell and her husband, Dave, of Hampstead, MD; grandchildren, Matthew B. and Laura B. Ewell of Hampstead, MD; brother-in-law, Herbert Wirts and wife, Barbara, of Hampstead, MD; and sister-in-law, Adaliea Smith of Hampstead, MD. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Gerald Adkins Sr. and Lee Adkins; and sisters, Vera Miller and Alice Goedeke.
