William "Bill" Compton Neild, age 83, went on to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, November 23, 2012 at Grand Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center in his hometown of Palm Coast FL. An airline pilot and boat captain during his lifetime, Bill served in the Navy during the Korean War. He had the opportunity throughout his life to transport Navy Admirals and Episcopal Bishops among others as their personal pilot. Until his early retirement, he owned a dry-cleaning business in Baltimore, MD. A civic leader in his birth town of Baltimore, he was chairman of the board for two different prep schools and helped generate income for those schools through successful investments. He was a member of a professional pilot's society and the Scottish Society of Baltimore. While in Flagler County, he was a member of the gun club, yacht club, American Legion, and was a member of Community Memorial Church of Flagler Beach over the last few years.
Bill is survived by his son, William C. Neild Jr. of Hampstead; cousin, Robert "Bob" Sauerhoff of St. Augustine, FL; godson, Michael Magaha of Edgewood; beloved cat, Peco and numerous friends and acquaintances where ever he went in life. A friend of many and a god-send to others, he never missed opportunity to help those who were in need and did so without notoriety. He was a true southern gentleman.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Bill Neild to the Flager County Humane Society.
