William ''Bill'' Riley

April 19, 1918 — November 3, 2011

William "Bill" Riley, age 93, of Forest Hill, MD, passed away on November 3, 2011 at his home. Born in Pleasantville, MD on April 19, 1918, he was the son of the late Thomas Andrew and Emma Beckley Riley and husband of 66 years to the late Mildred O. Tibbs Riley who passed away on April 25, 2011. A veteran of the U.S. Army he served our country in WWII and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska and the Philippines. A lifelong resident of Harford County, he worked on Atlanta Hall Farm on Pocock Road, which is owned by the Voss family of Monkton, for over 60 years as a horse groomer. Once discharged from the Army in 1945, the Riley's moved into a house on Atlanta Hall where they lived until October 2010 at which time they moved to Forest Hill with their daughter.

Mr. Riley is survived by his son, Thomas E. Riley and wife, Karen of Delta, PA; daughters, M. Louise Riley of Forest Hill, MD, Gail E. Haines of Jarrettsville, MD and A. Carol Amon of Bel Air, MD; grandchildren, Joe Haines and wife, Carrie Ann of Stewartstown, PA, Jennifer Driscoll and husband, Dan, Chris Amon and Laura Amon, all of Bel Air, MD, Craig Riley of Parkville, MD, 1st LT Kevin Riley, US Army stationed in Colorado, and Colin Riley of Delta, PA; great grandson, Carter Holden Driscoll; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bell Riley-Hess of Bel Air, MD, Ruby McConnell of Edgewood, MD, Freda Compton of Joppatowne, MD and Barbara Alvarado of Hydes, MD; brother-in-law, Harry Tibbs and his wife, Martha of Joppa, MD; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, Charles V. Riley, and eleven siblings.

Pallbearers are Tom Riley, Joe Haines, Chris Amon, Dan Driscoll, Colin Riley, and Ned Kriel.
