Willa Jean Harkins, age 79, of Jarrettsville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland.

Born in Maryland, Willa was the beloved daughter of the late William and Lenora (Campbell) Denny and the cherished wife of Russell Lee Harkins. She was a woman of deep faith, actively participating at Jarrettsville United Methodist and Norrisville United Methodist Churches. A former member and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, Willa gave her time generously to her community and always lent a helping hand to those in need.

Willa was a beautiful person, inside and out, with the kindest soul and a heart full of love. Her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and gentle sweetness lit up every room she entered, touching the lives of everyone around her. She embraced life with passion, joy, and an open heart, leaving behind warmth and kindness that will forever be cherished.

Willa’s strong faith in God was the foundation of her life. Her trust in God’s love was reflected in the compassion, generosity, and joy she shared with others.

Willa’s zest for life shone through her many interests. She found happiness playing bingo, attending tea gatherings with friends, and indulging in her love for shopping. She loved camping, painting, and crafting, expressing her creativity in countless ways. An exceptional cook and baker, Willa poured love into every dish she made, creating meals that her family and friends treasured and will always remember.

Above all, Willa was deeply devoted to her family, friends, and beloved pets. She lived each day with faith, compassion, and gratitude, leaving a legacy of love and warmth that will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Russell Lee Harkins she is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Dawn Harkins, and Wendy Harkins (John) Campbell; her treasured granddaughter, Abbey Ryan Campbell; her brothers, Billy Dean (Edie) Denny and Randy Denny; and her sister, Elaine Nowinsky.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Willa Jean Harkins’ name to Norrisville United Methodist Church or the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company.
