Wiliam Arthur Benedetto, Sr.

WILLIAM ARTHUR BENEDETTO SR., age 84, of Bel Air, MD, died on June 24, 2008 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Thomas, WV, he was the son of the late Anthony Reardon and Beatrice Victoria Davis Benedetto. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on February 27, 1943 and served as a T. Sgt. until his separation on March 20, 1946. During that time he served in WWII and Korea. He worked for Exxon from 1946-1982. He was a life member of Harford Post #39 for 47 years where he was an active Bingo worker, on the Board of Directors, Color Guard, S.A.L., and the Home and Grounds Committee. He held post positions until achieving the office of Post Commander from 1988-1989. He was always ready to work on any detail when called upon. This man is what we call a dedicated and a sincere Legioneer.

Mr. Benedetto is survived by his wife, Candida Riutort Benedetto of Bel Air, MD; two sons and daughters-in-law, William A. and Vivian Benedetto and Robert A. and Sandra Benedetto, both of Bel Air, MD; four grandchildren, Robert A. Benedetto Jr. of Mt. Airy, MD, Erin A. Benedetto of Bel Air, MD, Tina M. Wright of Aberdeen, MD, and Tricia L. Nellis of Fallston, MD; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Denise A. Benedetto and a brother, Dale Benedetto.
