Wilber L. Younger

WILBUR L. “ABE” YOUNGER, age 85, of Bel Air, died in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center on March 14, 2005. Born in Garrison, MD on May 6, 1919, he was the son of the late Frank W. Younger and Katie Bentley Younger (nee Romans).

He worked for Montgomery Ward for 38 years as a service technician. He retired in 1983 and joined the Montgomery Ward Retirees Club in 1983. He was an active life member of three veteran’s organizations: a charter member and past commander of the Robert G. Wilson, Chapter #561, Military Order of Purple Heart; junior vice commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter #10113 and the past commander of Disabled American Veterans Bel Air Chapter #30. He also was a life member of the 84th Division C Company, U.S. Army, Rail Splitters Society. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed talking to people.
He was a member of Grandview Christian Church, Fallston, MD and loved his church family.

He was the beloved husband of Charlotte L. Younger for 64 years and the devoted father of James T. Younger, Sr. and wife Linda of Joppa and the late Naomi K. Wilson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and their spouses, the late Sharon L. Newcomb and husband, Rick of Cecil County; James T. Younger, Jr. and wife Michelle of Edgewood; Joseph P. Engers, III of Darlington; Naomi R. Wright and husband, Michael of Bel Air; Charlotte L. Churn and husband George of Darlington; John Collins of Baltimore; Jaime Schuster and husband Jamie (Note: this is correct) of Joppa; eighteen great-grandchildren Sarah M. Engers of Bel Air, Joseph P. IV and Ryan Engers, both of Darlington, Ricky, John, and Kevin Newcomb, all of Cecil County, Jessica and Amanda Younger, both of Edgewood, Anthony, Hannah, Christopher, and Jeremy Churn, all of Darlington, Anthony, Thomas, and Jesse Schuster, all of Joppa, Nikki Hamm, and Douglas Shield, both of Jarrettsville; one great-great-granddaughter Shania Hamm of Jarrettsville; and
many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, daughter, and granddaughter, he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were: James T. Younger, Jr., Joseph P. Engers, James J. Schuster, Michael P. Wright, George Churn, and Tony Beavers.
