Wheeler S. Monks

Wheeler S. Monks, age 92, of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on August 8, 2013 at Harford Memorial Hospital. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Harry Scott Monks III and Myrtle Welsh Monks, and husband of the late Jane V. Kelly Monks. A veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, he served our country during WWII in North Africa, Egypt and Sudan. He lived in Harford County most of his life and was a Postal Foreman for the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed his retirement with his wife going on cruises and was a fan of the Orioles and Baltimore Colts, enjoyed crabs and beer, going to the race track and weekly trips to the Atlantic City Casinos.

Mr. Monks is survived by his daughter, Iva J. Mullaney of Havre de Grace; son, Warren S. Monks of Bel Air; sister, Joan E. Johnson of San Diego, CA; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his son, David S. Monks and brother, Vinton Monks.
