Wayne "Addie" Adkins

September 21, 1946 — August 14, 2024

Wayne "Addie" Adkins, age 77, of Aberdeen, Maryland, passed away on August 14, 2024, at Gilchrist Hospice in Towson, Maryland. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the beloved son of the late Percy and Wilhelmina (Francis) Adkins. Wayne was the devoted husband of Lillian (Burdette) Adkins, with whom he shared 59 wonderful years of marriage.

A dedicated and skilled professional, Wayne retired after 50 years with the Local 486 Steamfitters and Plumbers Union. His commitment to his craft was matched by his passion for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that are cherished by his family.

Wayne and Lillian were long-time members of Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen, where they nurtured their faith and community bonds. Known affectionately as "Addie," Wayne was celebrated for his cheerful disposition and witty sense of humor. Whether at work or in his personal life, he was always a big jokester, bringing joy and laughter to those around him.

Wayne’s legacy lives on through the beautiful memories and handcrafted treasures he leaves behind.

In addition to his wife Wayne is survived by his son, Wayne (Theresa) Adkins, Jr., grandson Christoper (Nichole) Adkins, and Nick (Abbey) Adkins, great-grandson Percy Adkins, son Rob (Amy) Adkins, grandson Jacob (Shannon) Adkins, great-grandson Theo Adkins, grandson Andrew (Megan) Adkins, and Nathan Adkins, daughter, Cindy (Mike) Kacher; and granddaughter, Paige Kacher; brother, Edward (Shirley) Adkins; and sisters, Jeanette Lewellyn, Evelyn Thorne, and Elaine (Mike) Bennett. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wilson Adkins and Carl Adkins, and sister, Ginny Wolfkill.
