WALTER S. VIKESTAD, age 75, of Bel Air, died at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, on November 1, 2005.
Born in New York, New York, he was the son of the late Sigvart and Aslaug Johannesen Vikestatd. He was retired from Aberdeen Proving Grounds after 34 years where he was a scientist. He had served in the military during the Korean Conflict. A member of Churchville Presbyterian Church, he was very active within the church. He had been a Sunday school teacher, active in the choir, served on various church committees and had served as an elder. He was active in the Harford Community Action Agency where he served as president of the Fuel Fund. He was also active with Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the Sons of Norway.
Mr. Vikestad is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret L. Langmo Vikestad; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul E. and Patricia P. Vikestad of Bel Air; a daughter, Ellen D. Vikestad of Baltimore; and two grandchildren, Erik M. and Alex C. Vikestad, both of Bel Air.
