Walter Pychinka

WALTER PYCHINKA, age 88, of Edgewood, MD, died on May 21, 2007, at his home. Born in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Maksym and Katherina Macina Pychinka. Walter served in the United States Army during WWII. He saw action in the Pacific Theatre and the liberation of the Philippines. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant on August 20, 1946 after having received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, WWII Victory Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 16, the V.F.W. and the Elks.

Mr. Pychinka is survived by his wife, Marie Antoinette Pychinka of Edgewood, MD; three children, Carol Ascenzi and her husband, John, of Bel Air, MD, Edward “Buddy” K. Purcell and his wife, Nancy, of Edgewater, FL, and Lee Stevens and her husband, Jim, of Towson, MD; four siblings, Mary Mack of Allentown, PA, Anna Domonkos of Miami, FL, John Pychinka of Allentown, PA, and Dorothy Shreve and her husband Ray, of Sanford FL; seven grandchildren, Laurie Ascenzi and Robert Ascenzi, both of Bel Air, MD, Carol Purcell of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Charles Purcell of Baltimore, MD, Susan Stevenson of Bartlett, TN, Sandy Ficca of Baltimore, MD and Mark Perin of Mt. Washington, MD; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Michael Pychinka and Joey Pychinka.
