Walter M. Smith

Walter M. Smith, age 95, of Bel Air, Maryland passed away on June 28, 2017 at his home. Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, he was the son of Walter and Sarah (Blades) Smith. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1973 after serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. After retirement, he worked for the Crownsville State Hospital and the University of Maryland School of Nursing. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church, the American Legion (Hagerstown) and was a lifetime member of Ft. Meade Golf Club. He spent winters in Florida and played golf with his wife until he was into his 90''s. During his playing years, he achieved 2 holes-in-one. His favorite hobby was his family, but golf was a close 2nd.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 72 years, Sarah M. Smith; son, Walter Michael Smith and wife, Elaine, of Bel Air; and granddaughter, McKenna Smith of Bel Air.
