Walter J. Deaver Jr., 88, of Abingdon, MD went home to be with Jesus on December 14, 2015 at his home. Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Walter John Deaver Sr. and Mary Ann (Drexel) Deaver, and husband, for 28 years, of the late Annie R. (Kelly) Deaver. He served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy and had worked for Bethlehem Steel as a carpenter, from which he retired after 36 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #17 in Edgewood and the Abingdon VFW Post #5337. He enjoyed hunting, loved collecting elephants and was a huge fan of the Ravens and Orioles.
Mr. Deaver is survived by his daughters, Wanda D. Tipton and husband, Mark, of Pasadena and Barbara Ann Smith and husband, Richard, of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, Nicole Smith, Megan Barnard and husband, Adam, and Timothy Scalla; great-grandchildren, Braden, Rylee and Paige; great-great-granddaughter, Aaliyah; and his companion, Sandra Stanbery.
