W. Carroll Ryan Jr.

W. Carroll Ryan Jr., age 81, of Bel Air, MD, died on October 21, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Magnolia, MD, he was the son of the late William Carroll Ryan Sr. and Anna Augusta Benser Ryan. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired, after 37 years, from APG-Edgewood Arsenal where he was an electronics technician. A member of the American Legion Post #17 of Edgewood, he also attended Bel Air United Methodist Church. An avid hunter, he enjoyed cutting wood, telling stories and spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife of 28 years, Elaine F. McCubbin Ryan of Bel Air, MD; sons, William "Billy" C. Ryan III of Owings Mills, MD, Dave Ryan and wife, Linda, of Abingdon, MD, and Brian Schafer and wife, Randi, of Oxford, PA; daughter, Stacey E. Crowl and husband, Aaron, of Bel Air, MD; brother, Donald R. Ryan of Bel Air, MD; sister, Helen E. Ryan of Abingdon, MD; nine grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Dave Ryan, Brian Schafer, Mike Ryan, Pat Gunther, Mark Ryan and Joe Moore.
