Virginia Ruth Doran

March 6, 1927 — December 21, 2012

Virginia Ruth Doran, age 85, of Joppa, MD, passed away on December 21, 2012, at Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Galax, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rush and Inez (Huff) Haynes and wife of the late John Alfred Doran, Sr. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed actively volunteering at Trinity after her retirement from Best Western Invitation Inn in Edgewood, with twenty-five years of service as Head Housekeeper. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and eldest daughter and son-in-law to military reunions across the country for her late husband's army military reunions, socializing with family and friends, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations and liked preparing specialty dishes from recipes she had collected over the years. She also enjoyed returning to her birthplace, Galax, to visit with relatives and high school friends and going on family vacations to Holden Beach, NC.

Mrs. Doran is survived by her sister, Ruby Haynes of Havre de Grace, and daughters, Linda Stevenson and husband, Walt, of Joppa; Marlene Rose and husband, Dave, of Level; sons John Jr. of Joppa; Nelson and wife, Cheryl, of Edgewood; and Alan and partner, Nat Parkinson, Jr., of Joppa; grandchildren Erin Stevenson, and fiancé, Eric Gregory; Kristin Zajdel and husband, Ronnie; Pamela Ungham and husband, Rick; Kevin Rose; Daniel Doran; and Jill Valentin and husband, Erick; great-grandchildren Haley Zajdel, Ivy Ungham, Cheyenne Doran, Logan Doran, Xavier Valentin, and Gabriel Valentin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Cora Pearl Roberson, of Independence, VA.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Doran, Kevin Rose, Eric Gregory, Rick Ungham, Ronnie Zajdel, and Erick Valentin. Honorary Pallbearers are Walt Stevenson, Dave Rose, and Nat Parkinson, Jr.
