Virginia R. Scarlett

Virginia R. Scarlett passed away at the age of 90 on May 5, 2016 at her home in Churchville, MD with her family by her side. She was born in Pottsville, PA to Joseph and Stella (Machonis) Pacenta. She was a pioneer in her field as one of the first Nurse Anesthetists, and worked in medicine for over 50 years.

Mrs. Scarlett is survived by her sons, John T. Scarlett and David M. Scarlett; her daughter Mary Ann Slack; her sisters Marianne Graves and Rosemary Pacenta; and six grandchildren Jeremy, David Jr., Ben, Josh, Dan and Chris. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John Birks Scarlett III, her brothers Joe and Tommy, and sister Norma.
