Virginia Morgan Dresher passed away peacefully at 92 years of age on September 2 surrounded by her family. She was the second of six children born to Thomas and Hazel Thomas Morgan of Munhall, PA. She was fond of saying that they grew up poor but never knew it. It was a close, loving family and the model for the family she raised with her late husband, Jim. She was the last of her generation, having lost her sister Lucille in June, 2014.
Virginia, also known as Ginny, was the beloved wife of the late James T. Dresher, Sr., for 56 years. She is survived by their four children, Ginny Meoli (Tony), Jeanne Butcher (Jim), Jim Dresher, Jr., (Patti) and Jeff Dresher (Chris). Also by her 9 grandchildren, Michael Meoli (Kelli), Melanie Meoli Robinson (David), Marcie Dresher Michael (John), Amy Butcher Parker (Craig), Susan Butcher Roarty (Danny), Joshua Dresher (Chelsea), Christina Dresher, Megan Dresher, John Dresher, 2 step grandchildren, Julia Longchamps (Dustin) and Mark Apicella and 16 great-grandchildren. A 17th great-grandchild is expected in November, a baby boy who will be the first of the generation to carry on the Dresher surname. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jeannie Meoli and James T. Dresher, III.
Virginia and Jim moved around the country as Jim's career advanced, living in Pennsylvania, Maryland (3 times) California (twice) and Texas (twice), finally settling in Harford County on Glenangus Farms. It was there that the grandchildren grew up with Virginia, their "Meemaw" or "Meems," at the center of the busy family, always with a fully stocked cookie jar. She was always actively involved in volunteer organizations, organizing family activities and hosting Jim's business friends and colleagues in each new location. The annual Morgan family reunion has been held at Glenangus for 38 years. Virginia was an active board member of the Dresher Foundation which she and her husband cofounded in 1989. She loved her association with PEO which honored her this year as a "Golden Girl" for her 50 years of membership. She was also a member of Christ Our King Presbyterian Church, the Country Garden Club of Harford County and Red Hatters known as the Mad Hatters. Mrs. Dresher has been a resident of Avondell for 2 years where she will be remembered for her mission of smiles and hugs. Her sense of humor kept friends and family smiling until the end.
Pallbearers are Michael Meoli, Josh Dresher, John Dresher, David Robinson, Craig Parker, John Michael and Danny Roarty.
Memorial contributions in Mrs. Virginia M. Dresher's name may be made to The Community Foundation of Harford County, P.O. Box 612, Bel Air, MD 21014.
