Virginia "Ginny" Carolyn Smith, age 74, of Abingdon, Maryland went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Saviour on January 30, 2024. Born in Baltimore City, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Helen (Bateman) Smith. Ginny was a devoted mother and grandmother who lived her life with a genuine desire to please the Lord, which in turn, cultivated a steadfast love for the people in her life—especially her family. She worked for 25 years for W.R. Grace as an administrative assistant, retiring in 2008. She enjoyed baking cookies with many recipes. She loved planning parties and sewing. She was termed the "Quintessential Grandmother,” although her favorite title was “Nanny.” Ginny was a member of Emmorton Baptist Church.
Virginia is survived by her son, Kevin (Pamela) Johnston; sister, Linda Cheryl Mullins; grandchildren, Delaney Caroline Johnston, Ian Michael Johnston, and Luke Zachariah Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Annemarie Kroening, and brother, Edward Allen Smith.
