Virginia Josephine Freeland, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2024, at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the cherished daughter of the late Albert and Mary Bosley and devoted wife of the late Marion Freeland.
Virginia's legacy of love and strength lives on through her family. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda May Alexander and her husband Thomas, and son, Don Joseph Freeland and his wife, Bettye Louise. She leaves behind a loving sisterhood, including Beulah M. Houchins, Dorothy L. Watts, Nancy L. Thompson, Diane I. Nunley, and stepsister Joan E. Gullion.
Her memory will be forever treasured by her grandchildren, Edward L. Freeland, Jr., Christina A. Freeland, Justen Freeland, Heather Freeland, John Alexander, and Stephen Alexander. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren, including Andrew Freeland, Deana Freeland, Nicole Mink, Tyler Wiland, Abigail Wiland, Aubrey Freeland, Sara Alexander, Lacy Alexander, and Cody Alexander. Additionally, she is survived by her great-great-grandchildren, Evelyn Freeland, JaeDean Freeland, Jackson Brown, Liam Brown, Brandon Logue, Mason Logue, and Avalon Wiland.
In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Edward Leroy Freeland, and her cherished grandson, Philip E. Freeland. She was also preceded by her sisters, Lola E. Christ, Evelyn E. Grace, Mary C. Francis, and Deloris H. Rather, and her brother, Albert N. Bosley.
Virginia's life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and her enduring faith. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the countless memories she shared with those she held dear. Her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
