Virginia Elizabeth Treakle Morris, 90, of Fairmont, WV, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Arbors at Fairmont Nursing Home. She was born September 30, 1916 in Street, MD a daughter of the late Charles and Helen Stokes Treakle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lawrence Morris.
Mrs. Morris was an Episcopalian by faith. She was a graduate of Towson State College. She had previously lived in Bel Air, as well as, Darlington. She worked with over 20 years of service as a school teacher in the Darlington and Edgewood Elementary Schools. She had been a Girl Scout leader. She loved traveling with her husband and enjoyed bird watching.
Mrs. Morris is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Scott, and husband, Jack, of Independence, VA, and Loretta Williams and husband, Brent, of Colfax, WV; sister-in-law, Marian Treakle of Arlington, VA; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Charles Treakle; nephew, Thomas Treakle; and brother-in-law, Ted Morris.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Association in memory of her husband, at National Parkinson Foundation, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
