Virginia ''Betty'' Howell

Virginia "Betty" Howell, age 92, of Fallston, MD, died on March 26, 2009 at her home. Born in Chilhowie, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Mattie Gertrude St. John Tomlinson and wife of the late Hobart B. Howell Sr. A lifelong member of Dublin United Methodist Church, she belonged to the Friendship Circle, bible groups, and the lunch bunch. She was a fixture in the Dublin UMC kitchen where you could always find her flipping pancakes, chopping eggs, mixing pie filling, making potato salad with her homemade dressing or just helping prepare for church dinners or lunches. She also helped serve birthday lunch to the patients on the Citizens Care Guild, served as a volunteer at the Twice Blessed Thrift Center in Darlington, Gadabouts at Grace Episcopal Church and Pacesetters at Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Howell is survived by her sons, Hobart B. Howell Jr., and wife Diane M. of Fallston, MD and Jerry W. Howell, and wife Pollyann of Towson, MD; and grandchildren, Rebecca, Andrew and Bryan Howell and Cora, Jordan and Brandan Desombre.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Pauline Moxley.

Pallbearers are Hobart B. Howell Jr., Jerry W. Howell, Walter Jones, Bud Henry, Bill Miller and Martin Van Gosen.
