VIRGIE IRENE BECK, age 92, of Edgewood, MD, died on December 15, 2006, at Harford Memorial Hospital, Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late James Rayburn and Ida Mae Botterill Phillips and the wife of the late James Oscar Beck. She worked as a Twister Hand at a Cotton Mill. She was the most proud of being a lifelong member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Joppa Magnolia Fire Company, celebrating 25 years in 1996, and 35 years this year. She was the oldest member of the Auxiliary. She enjoyed raising her family on the farm and was known to many she cared for as “Mom-Mom” or “Mom-Beck”. She loved to collect knick-knacks.
Mrs. Beck is survived by one daughter, Marlene Patricia Curry-Taylor of Aberdeen, MD; one son-in-law, Albert Bair of Edgewood, MD; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, James Rayburn, one daughter, Shirley Mae Bair, four siblings, one grandson, and one great grandson.
Pallbearers were Albert Bair, Jr., Dewey Curry, Robert Curry, Mike Bair, Jamie Bair, and Joey Beck. Honorary pallbearers were Albert Bair, Sr., Lou Jonski, Anna Jonski, Margaret Bullock, and Kory Bair.
