Vince Turek, age 88, of Bel Air, MD, died on March 26, 2011 at Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA. Born in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Anthony Vincent and Anna Weronicki Turek and husband of the late Florence Turek. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served our country as a Paratrooper during WWII where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He worked 33 years in civil service starting in St. Louis and ending his career in Baltimore, where he was the civilian head of the Army Publication Center. A resident of Harford County for 46 years, he attended Prince of Peace Catholic Church, and later, St. Margaret Catholic Church. A life member of the American Legion, he was a Kentucky Colonel, and enjoyed cooking, and stamp and coin collections.
Mr. Turek is survived by his sons, Gerald Turek and wife, Sheridan, of Joppa, MD, Christopher Turek and wife, Connie, of Taylorville, IL, Gregory Turek and wife, Gail, of Gamber, MD, and Mark Turek and wife, Carol, of Abingdon, MD; daughter, Sandie Francis and husband, Ron, of Sterling, VA; sister, Irene Turek Stolarski of San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Jerry, Greg, and Mark Turek, Ron Francis, Bob Whisenhunt, and Mike Moculski.
