Vida Skillman Wood

VIDA SKILLMAN WOOD, age 75, of Mechanicsville, Maryland, died at St. Mary’s Hospital, Leonardtown, MD, on October 15, 2005. Born in Harford County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Annabelle Montgomery Skillman. She graduated from Old Post Road High School in 1947. She married in 1952 and raised her children with the late Glenn W. Wood, Jr. She worked as a computer and data entry operator for several companies in Maryland and Florida. She served as treasurer for the St. Mary’s County Fair for several years and also enjoyed being a reading tutor at the local elementary schools. Crossword puzzles were her favorite pastime.

Mrs. Wood is survived by her three children, Glenna Jean Wood, Byron William Wood and David Wayne Wood, all of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren, Tyler David Wood, Lauren Nicole Wood, Braden Glenn Wood, all of LaPlata, Maryland, and Connor William Wood of Mechanicsville; her sister, Jean Grace Kilduff of Edgewood;. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Beatrice Kimmel and Thelma Sarah Woodie.

Pallbearers will be: Eddie Kimmel, John Christian, Donald Kilduff, Kenny Kilduff, Keith Kimmel, Jeffery Campbell and Tyler Wood.
